R. A. "Skeeter" Blackmon had 2 children, a son and a daughter. He operated the Marion Parlor Drug Store and served Kanteen's Ice Cream on the southwest corner of Washington Ave. and Broadway. The Paramount Theater was also adjoining the drug store from the lobby via a door which was very convenient for the citizens. It was a very popular teenage hang-out.
Mr Blackmon was on the city council and also served as vice-mayor. He was also on the Mid-Delta Regional Airport board. They built this house in 1942
