Constructed in 1932, this was the 8th home built in the Gamwyn Park Subdivision. Mr. & Mrs. Albert Lake were the owners. Albert Lake was the city attorney of Greenville for a number of years. He was also a member of Wynn, Hafter, Lake, & Tindall Law firm.
Mr. Lake was an officer with the 114th Field Artillery within the Dixie Division in World War II. In the neighborhood the following men were in the Dixie Division: Mr. Galla Paxton (Brigadier General), Mr. Albert Lake (Colonel), and Mr. Fred O'Bannon (Major). Mrs. Lake's name was Jennie Albert and lived at 1205 Main Street. The house originally had a small barn at the rear, and horses were kept in the large rear yard, in apparent violation of the restrictive covenants.
